Losing your sight
doesn't mean losing your life.

We're Florida Vision Alliance — a Miami nonprofit built by and for people who understand what it's like to navigate the world without sight. We help blind and visually impaired people get the technology, training, and community they need to live independently.

About

We've been there.

Florida Vision Alliance started with one simple idea: the people who understand vision loss best should be the ones helping others through it.

Our founder lives with low vision. Our team includes blind tech trainers, orientation and mobility specialists, and community advocates who have walked the same path you're on. We're not here to talk down to anyone. We're here to share what works, connect you to the right tools, and build a community where nobody has to figure this out alone.

Programs

Here's what we actually do.

No fluff. No corporate jargon. Just real programs that solve real problems for real people.

  • Assistive Tech That Works

Screen readers, braille displays, magnifiers, smart glasses — we don't just hand them to you, we sit with you until you know how to use them. Because a device you can't operate is just an expensive paperweight.

  • AI for Real Life

Be My Eyes, Seeing AI, ChatGPT — these aren't Silicon Valley toys, they're tools that can read your mail, describe a photo of your grandkid, or help you navigate a grocery store. We show you how.

  • Getting Where You Need to Go

Losing your sight shouldn't mean losing your freedom. We connect you to rides, paratransit, and volunteer drivers who actually understand what you're going through.

  • Phones & Computers

VoiceOver, TalkBack, magnification, keyboard shortcuts — your phone and computer already have everything you need built in. Most people just don't know where to look. We'll find it together, one step at a time.

  • Digital Skills That Matter

Email, video calls, online forms, job applications — the stuff everyone else learned by clicking around. We'll go at your pace. No judgment, no rush. Just the skills you actually need.

  • Working for Yourself

Sometimes the traditional job market doesn't fit. We help members start small businesses, side hustles, and freelance work — on their own schedule, on their own terms.

  • People Who Get It

Sometimes you need to talk to someone who's been there. Our workshops and meetups aren't classes — they're conversations. Real people sharing what actually works.

  • Finding Work

Résumes, interviews, workplace accommodations, and connections to employers who hire blind and low-vision workers. You have skills. We help you show them.

Impact

This is what community looks like.

Every number is a person who got their first smartphone. A parent who learned to read a screen. A senior who didn't have to give up their independence. That's the work.
